What is a Transitional Home?
For individuals experiencing homelessness there are many routes possible to regain stability and move toward permanent housing solutions. Many only need a temporary stay at an emergency shelter, while others need a support for a longer period of time, which is what a transitional home is designed for.
Length of Time
Programs allow families to stay for up to 2 years
Supportive Services
Programs often require mandatory participation in services such as case management and classes
After Care
Participants typically have continued support for a set amount of time after completing the program
Our Program
Agape’s Embrace offers an Open Door concept in programming. A team of volunteers gather and commit to working with a family on all aspects of living skills. The team leader facilitates the group and each individual chooses an area of expertise to mentor moms in. Areas of expertise can include, but are not limited to, education, housing, finance, transportation, and parenting skills.
Moms partner with staff and volunteers to create short and long term goals, along with a toolbox of skills that help develop self-sufficiency. Within the first 30 days of entering the program, moms are tasked with finding full time employment, enrolling with DES for EBT/WIC, daycare and medical assistance and setting their short term goals.
Families are expected to participate in the supportive services we offer:
